AP Student and Parent Information for 2024-2025

AP Student and Parent Information for 2024-2025

Hello parents and students! As you begin to think about the courses you will take in the 2024-2025 school year, we want to make sure you take our Advanced Placement (AP) Courses into consideration. AP gives students the chance to tackle college-level work while they're still in high school and through taking AP Exams taken at the end of the school year, students can earn college credit and placement. Students also receive a slight GPA boost on each AP course they successfully pass with a C or better, when calculating their cumulative GPA. While AP classes offer many benefits, they are also rigorous classes with increased expectations on students in terms of both workload and quality of work. Please be sure to watch the below videos that explain in detail what to expect from each course. Additionally, it is essential to review the AP contract that students and parents must sign before enrolling in an AP course.

Important Dates

  • October-December 2023
    • Students will be meeting with their counselors to select their course requests for the 2024-2025 school year. In order for your counselor to register you for any AP classes, they must have a signed AP contract on file for the 2024-2025 school year. Students can download the AP contract below, or they can pick up printed copies in the Counseling Office.

  • Spring 2024
    • Expectation meetings will be held between teachers and students who are signed up for the course. Additional parent/student expectation meetings may be required.

  • Before May 30th, 2024
    • The last day to drop an AP course for any reason is the last day of school, May 30th, 2024. To drop an AP course you must email your counselor by this date requesting the drop. Starting May 31st, 2024, you will be held accountable for staying enrolled in your selected AP courses and following the expectations outlined in the AP Contract.

  • After May 30th, 2024
    • Students will be expected to stay in the AP courses they selected, per the AP Contract agreements.
